Statistics related to the last six drug take-backs in Maine


  1. During the last statewide collection, 22,260 pounds of medications were collected in Maine…… 139 law enforcement agencies participated and those agencies operated 159 collection sites throughout Maine


  1. For the 6th consecutive time, Maine ranked #1 in the US per capita for the largest collection based on poundage


  1. For the 4th consecutive time, Maine had the largest statewide collection by weight in New England (MA was second – note that MA has 5X the population)


  1. The total weight of medications collected in Maine during the six drug take-back events: 99,100 lbs.


Youth Matter! offers:

  1. Bullet  Diversion programs for area students who have made poor choices with alcohol or other substances and may have had encounters with the law. Programs include: Diversion to Assets, Boomerang, and Student Intervention and Reintegration Program (SIRP).

  2. Bullet  Youth Empowerment Through Employment program for Waterville and Winslow High School students. (YETE)

  3. Bullet  Alcohol training for local businesses (RBS).

  4. Bullet  Parenting workshops (Guiding Good Choices) for caregivers in our community.

  5. Bullet  A youth group focussed on reducing substance abuse and increasing youth leadership skills.

  6. Bullet  Many online resources for people looking for help with youth substance abuse.

  7. Bullet  Home of the 21st Century After School program serving Waterville Schools.

Youth Matter partners with 12 community sectors including local businesses, law enforcement, schools, youth serving and public health organizations.
